NES Classic Edition discontinued
Nintendo of America announced that the always sold-out Classic NES system will now be discontinued. The few shipments left in April 2017 will be the last we see of this amazing reboot of Nintendo’s first home console. A Nintendo of America representative has confirmed the discontinuation. There was no reason given to discontinue the console, just that it wasn’t meant to be a long-term product.
NES Classic Edition wasn’t intended to be an ongoing, long-term product.

New yellow Joy-Con and Joy-Con AA battery pack
On June 16th, Nintendo is releasing a new neon yellow Joy-Con and a Joy-Con AA battery pack for the Switch. This accompanies the neon blue, neon red and grey controllers currently available. The Joy-Con AA battery pack will extend the already very long life of the Joy-Con controllers. Regular battery life for the Joy-Con controllers is estimated at 20 hours of gameplay.
Pokémon the Movie 20 isn’t like Indigo League
This isn’t Pokémon: I Choose You. This retelling of Ash’s first few days as a Pokémon Trainer diverts a lot from what I remember waking up to every morning as a child. The 20th movie includes new friends and Pokémon from other regions like Piplup, Incineroar and Marshadow. The new movie also seems to include story elements from at least the first few episodes of Pokémon: Indigo League. The trailer includes Team Rocket and what looks like Ash’s Metapod evolving to Butterfree.
I’m slightly upset that this isn’t just an elaborated version of the first episode, or even the first few episodes. This seems to be an entire retelling of the story. Ash has different friends and a different interaction with Ho-oh. That being said, I’m not surprised at the additions of new story elements. Even Pokémon Origins wasn’t an exact retelling of Red’s adventure through Kanto, since they added Mega Stones. The addition in Origins was seamless and was an amazing addition. I hope Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You is as seamless and fulfilling as Pokémon: Origins.
