Look upon the merch for Stars
More Pokémon Stars speculation has followed an official merchandise announcement. The “Look Upon the Stars” line of bags, keychains and accessories depict Pokémon shaped constellations and some have a Pikachu and Cosmog looking up at the stars with a telescope. The line of products will be available at Pokémon Centers in Japan on May 20th.
Pokémon GO Grass-type event
Niantic continues with regular events for Pokémon GO with the upcoming Grass-type event. Running from May 5th through May 8th, Grass-type Pokémon will be more common in the wild.
Niantic to host community events
Niantic is planning to host its first Pokémon GO this weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina. Teaming up with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, community events in public places will be held around the United States. Tours will be given of public areas along predetermined routes where there Pokéstops and Gyms In coordination with local officials, streets will be shut down for some of the events.
The first event in Charlotte, NC, will be on May 7th and is only an experimental event. It will coincide with another community event called Open Streets 704. Streets will already be closed for the event, which should make for a better GO experience.
Renaming Mario Kart?
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe boasts a huge roster of 42 playable characters, which includes a handful of non-Mario characters. Some people are now asking, “Should Mario Kart still be called Mario Kart when there are so many non-Mario characters?” The proposed names around the Internet are Nintendo Kart and Super Smash Kart.
A full name change might not be the best solution to this problem, as even Super Smash Bros. has a Mario-esque connotation with the title due to the “Bros.” part. Even with the addition of non-Mario and even non-Nintendo characters to the lineup, there has never been a name change to the Super Smash Bros. games, other than appending a subtitle like Melee or Brawl.
