About the podcast
Learn how to be the very best like no-one ever was!
Pokedex Radio is a fan-made Pokémon podcast about the Pokémon video game series. This Pokémon podcast has brought the latest news about the Pokémon world, taught the mechanics of the Pokémon games, and explored every Pokémon region for over four years. Pokedex Radio is the best place to learn everything about Pokémon! Subscribe for free in iTunes.
The Pokedex Radio podcast launched on March 6, 2009, with the goal of forming a community of Pokémon Trainers who care about the Pokémon video games and to start a dialogue about the Pokémon franchise. The website has changed many times since then, and the podcast has taken a few breaks, but the passion for Pokémon is here to stay.
Pokedex Radio is under the production supervision of Flashlight Studios.
About the hosts
This Pokémon podcast is hosted by Austin Marchand, founder of Flashlight Studios and creator of the Pokedex Radio podcast. I’ve been playing Pokémon since April 1999, just after the release of the first generation games in the United States. The Pokémon games have been a big influence on my life for nearly 15 years now. When I first learned about podcasts and podcasting in 2008, I thought that it would be a great way to express my opinions and passions of Pokémon. After some searching, I didn’t find many good Pokémon podcasts available online, so I decided to start my own. After a year of failed attempts with different co-hosts, an episode was finally published in March 2009.
With a bachelor’s degree in mass communications (concentrating in media production and programming and a minor in English concentrating in professional and technical writing) from the University of South Florida, my production and writing abilities have grown exponentially. I’ve personally always been interested in the radio, television, and new media, and I know podcasting is the path I can take to grow in the broadcast field. I occasionally do voice over spots for small companies, which you can email me if you want more information about that to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Flashlight Studios is the name I put on all types of media that I create or produce whether it be podcasts, films, videos, photography, or any other types of media.
Rene Amaya has been a Pokémon fan since first playing Pokémon Red back in 1999. Pokémon has been an influence in his life and in his gaming. He has been listening to the Pokedex Radio podcast for about two years. He has played at least one game in each Pokémon generation. Outside of Pokémon, Rene also plays PS3, PS4 and Wii U. Also he is a fan of many nerdy things like Doctor Who, Power Rangers, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, Firefly, Arrow and Supernatural, as well as other programs (just ask and he’ll talk about them). Rene joined the Pokedex Radio podcast at the end of March 2014 as Austin’s co-host.
If you ever want to play video games with Rene you can find him as Akiyanu on PSN or on 3DS 2578-3470-5554. Also you can follow him on Twitter @ReneOnly1E.
