There are other ways of EV training a Pokémon, other than just battling certain opponents or playing mini games. One important part of EV training since the very beginning has been items.
Using Horde Encounters as an EV Training method is a much faster way to use when EV training your Pokémon in Pokémon X and Y, but it is a little more complicated and harder to keep track of than Super Training.
Super Training is by far the easiest way to use when EV training your Pokémon in Pokémon X and Y, and is the best method for beginners.
EVs, or effort values, are numbers in a Pokémon game that help determine the stats of an individual Pokémon. Before Generation 6, these values were hidden from the player, and it was difficult to keep track of them when you were EV training. In Pokémon X and Y, Game Freak added some features that make EV training much easier and much faster.
